Cope in pole position

E-mail Print PDF

Jamie Cope is in pole position after day one of the latest instalment of the Championship League thanks to superb wins over Ricky Walden, Dave Harold and Barry Hawkins. Cope should only now need at least one win against Robertson, Ebdon or Williams tomorrow to secure his playoff place for tomorrow evening.

Both Robertson and Ebdon however are hot on his heals with Ebdon having three superb wins over Walden, Robertson and Williams to keep him in touch with Cope although having played one more match.

Barry Hawkins can count himself unlucky today losing out 3-2 twice in high scoring matches to Ricky Walden and Jamie Cope, with Walden recording a superb 133 break in the final frame of their encounter. Hawkins however did register a superb 142 break in his 3-1 win over Dave Harold later on in the day.

However there are still a lot of matches to be played tomorrow and all the players involved will still fancy getting into the playoff places come tomorrow evening.
