Northern Ireland's Mark Allen progressed to the final stages of the Championship League today thanks to a 3-0 win over Peter Ebdon in the final of today's Group 6 event.
Ebdon had led the way after day one in the groups and still finished No.1 despite a 3-2 defeat to Allen earlier in the day but he couldn't stop Allen taking the main prize.
Today's results saw Allen defeat both Mark Williams 3-0 and Ebdon 3-2 but he did lose out once today losing 3-2 to Jamie Cope to finish 2nd overall in the group behind Ebdon.
Joe Swail and Mark Williams held on for 3rd and 4th place respectively in the group and Allen saw off his fellow countryman 3-0 in a scrappy encounter. Edbon however produced yet another superb display with a 144, 65 and 55 to see off Williams 3-1 in the other half of the draw.
The final however saw Allen knock in breaks of 69 and 56 in his 3-0 win to progress to the finals that are now nearly complete with only one more qualifying day to take place.
With Barry Hawkins and Stuart Bingham relegated after today's event we now see Ebdon, Williams, Swail and Cope join Ding Jun Hui, Steve Davis and Michael Holt in the final qualifier on March 22nd and 23rd with the finals taking place on the 24th and 25th.
