Event two of the PTC tour has been underway since Thursday morning and we are now down to the last eight with one or two surprise names among the line up.
Not least Scottish revelation Anthony McGill who has been the revelation of the event to date with some superb wins against the best in the business.
McGill opened up his week with a 110 break on his way to a 4-1 win over Sam Harvey and has not let up since. He followed that win up with a solid 4-1 victory over Jimmy Mitchie before sending Dave Harold packing by the same score line with breaks of 83,96 and 127 along the way.
Those results qualified him for the final day here in Sheffield where many would have predicted an easy win for Stephen McGuire over the youngster from Scotland. Quiet the opposite indeed as McGill whitewashed the No.2 seeded player and will now face Gerard Greene in the quarters.
With McGill picking up points in the first event also this is a superb start to his professional career and he's obviously enjoying these PTC events.
Elsewhere amateur player Andrew Pagget is making up for his bad luck in the draw for the first event when he got Ronnie O'Sullivan. Pagget, an ex-pro, had accounted for Andrew Norman, Jamie Jones and Stephen Lee to qualify for the final day and a 4-2 win over Peter Lines will now see him face either Marco Fu or Alan McManus who at the time of writing were locked at 2-2.
Of the big name players left Mark Selby will now face Jimmy Robertson and Stuart Bingham and Barry Pinches make up the line up for the quarter finals this afternoon.
